Description
Hardman writes to let Finley know that Stotts Coffrin died October 13th in Macupin County, Illinois. Widow Coffrin requested that the "Old Bell" be rung 25 times in Fairfield to announce Stott's death. Hardman is astonished that the governor recently appointed him one of three directors of the D. S. & T. Road (Dayton Springfield Turnpike). He suspects that Finley recommended him as a candidate to the governor. Abstract Number - 311
