This letter from a reader of an article in the Methodist Magazine, which Finley evidently wrote, is a very polite but forceful criticism of the article containing the phrase "the old bluestocking Calvinist." The writer protests that it is better to return "good for evil rather than evil for evil" and urges that "the Brother Methodists be careful of such epithets as they can be of no benefit to any person."
